It's really addictive, yes! You have to register with a card or an e-mail address from your ISP such as NTLworld or btonline or something. And you have to be over 18
Basically you place a bid and if you win that bid you're notified by e-mail and you have to chose your type of payment (With the choice given by the seller) which is usually PayPal, Personal cheque or cash. You basically have step by step instructions when actually purchasing the item... If you use Paypal then the payment is paid straight away, obviously with cash payments you have to wait untill address details are given.
Before placing a bid it's often wise to check up on their feedback, in some cases you can have dodgy sellers who don't actually send the item after you've paid. However, things like this are usually quite rare and if anything like this does happen it's an idea to report them to eBay and somethings usually sorted.
I've been buying things from there for over a year now... And i've never had any dodgy purchases! It's just made me completely skint
