2005 will be a very exciting year for British music. Why? Because the big three are all sent to release albums around the same time. Coldplay, Oasis and Stereophonics will battle it out to be the number one band in Britain.
For my money, it will be the year of the Phonics. Though Stuart Cable will be loved and fondly remembered, his parting, seems of given the rest of the band a lift. The tour last year proved that the stereophonics are a very strong live act but they are yet to produce a record that was a good as the first. JEEP and YGGTTCB felt like albums a bit out of place, and made by a band trying to find out what they had done and where they were going. Now it appears life has settled down for the Stereophonics and they have the opportunity to make a record that can have the impact that WGA had on so many people.
However a few points
1. find a permanent long term drummer
2. dont use ‘Movie Star’ as a template for new album
3. keep the album tittle ‘love, sex, violance....other’
4. ROCK! |

I don't care who "wins" the battle, I know the phonics will do great anyway

Justin, everyone is entitled to their opinion... why shouldn't Tommyboy believe that the Phonics are going to do well next year?
I believe it.
And by "doing well" I don't just mean doing well in the charts, I mean releasing a fantastic album that is going to be yet different from the other 4.
Not to mention another great tour (which will include Reading, of course )
Anyway to cut this short, why not believe they are not going to have some recognition? |
