I don`t like the movie either! All the great experiences of Richard in the book were`nt shown in the film !!!! It`s a shame!
I read the book, too, but i havn`t heard about a different ending , sorry! |

read the book... slightly different ending. daffy's character is much better (he's more important). and the story with richard and francoise is completely different!
...and the movie left out one of the most interesting characters 
virgine ledoyen is beautiful, like francoise should be, but she wasnt as erm... elegant.. as she should have been |

I've not seen the movie which I'm assuming is a good thing from what I've heard! I did check out the trailer because I wanted to see how hot francoise would be and I was shocked at the fact that pretty much none of the scenes were from the book! especially the scene with richard and francoise hooking up... that's just bizarre! In the book their relationship was really interesting and the movie didn't attempt to portray it in the same way!
I read (on wikipedia I think) that when the filmed that movie they ruined the island that they set it on and it still hasn't recovered despite the film companies lies that they would preserve everything and repair any damage done. There really are lots of reasons to hate the film.
...However the book was awesome and made me want to go travelling! It is really inspiring and interesting and very well written. I didn't fully understand the ending tho, I wasn't sure whether certain things were metaphorical or literal... I should re-read it... |
