ugh.. how were they allowed to release that movie!?!
leo dicaprio's richard was one of the minor downfalls of it. all the characters were portrayed differently. the story with richard and francoise would not have happened.. and the rice run to ko pha ngan with sal was a definate default. and where was jed!?!
ok, i know a lot was to change from novel to script... but in this case very little stayed the same. i was very disappointed, i enjoyed that book so much.
hmmph. and neither ending was particularly great . i have heard that there is an alternative ending to the book.. does anybody else know about this?

i've only seen the movie on this one, i thought it started off with a good idea, and to have the mighty rob c in it really helped....after they killed him off, all the narrative stuff was boring to say the least.... the scandal with richard, francoise and what's her name was like being at home, nothing new on the stuff that happens...
the ending....dissapointing...but virgine ledoyen helped proceedings (i'm male, leave it alone )

read the book... slightly different ending. daffy's character is much better (he's more important). and the story with richard and francoise is completely different!
...and the movie left out one of the most interesting characters
virgine ledoyen is beautiful, like francoise should be, but she wasnt as erm... elegant.. as she should have been

the book will always paint a better picture than a film, i know that
