i think Davey is on to something. this could be a great way to discover new bands, get setlists and reviews of bigger bands' tours, find gig buddies to go with, swap tickets, get info about support bands and venues and even accommodation if necessary.

In addition to the stereoboard being sooo 1999, I also think the community itself has had it's day.

I look back on my time on this forum much like my days at school. It was great while it lasted but inevitably people grow up, they move on, and they make new friends. Sure, it can be nostalgic to look up people on Friendsreuinted once in a while and find out what they're getting up to, but ultimately the reason you've not kept in touch all these years is because you've outgrown them; they've chosen different paths and you no longer see your own life reflected in theirs.

If you're going to get the new site attracting at least the level of traffic the stereoboard had 7-8 years ago, then you're going to have to build the community from scratch with an entirely new set of people. Trying to attract the old gang would just be like setting up a Class of '96 reunion, which I'm sure would be a fucking great night, but unfortunately we'd all go our seperate ways again in the morning.

As to how you would go about building an entirely new online community, I have no idea. I'm going to turn 30 this year, and as a result I have no idea what the kids these days are into beyond the obvious things like music, girls and happy slapping.

But when I'm not suppressing the desire to start gardening for pleasure, I'll probably pop my head round the door and take a look at your new site as I'm sure it'll be fantastic. You never know, I might even stay a while and wind up some of the sprighty young whippersnappers about how the site was much much better in the olden days, and how you don't get threads like "I just orgasmed to the song T Shirt Suntan" anymore.
