Rock Legends To Collaborate With Today's Stars At Prince's Trust Rock Gala

The Prince’s Trust has announced its music event of the decade, a unique fundraising concert which will feature the performances of rock legends alongside some of today’s rising stars.

The Prince’s Trust is an organisation that was set-up in 1976 to provide practical and financial support as well as workplace skills to 14 to 30-year-olds who have previously struggled at school, been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.

Helping more than 60,000 young people since its establishment, The Prince’s Trust set-up fundraising concerts following the recession of the 1980’s to help the UK’s young people while the country was gripped by inflation, strikes and high unemployment.

Calling upon supporters such as Phil Collins, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Brian May and Tina Turner to assist in raising money for young people, unfortunately twenty years on the concerts are still having to be be set-up to raise money for disadvantaged young people.

This year’s concert is being hosted by some of the best names in comedy, multi-award winning actor and comedian Rob Brydon, Barry Humphries as his hilourous alter ego Dame Edna Everage and the master of mimicry, Alistair McGowan will take to the stage to introduce the bands.

Speaking about the concerts, Prince’s Trust ambassador and guitar legend Brian May had this to say. “Our last performance at the Rock Gala had one aim…to raise money for youngsters struggling to find work after a recession. Unfortunately we find ourselves in the same situation twenty years on and I’m helping the best way I know how.”
