Last week Slipknot were announced as the first headliners of next year's Knebworth-based, three-day rock extravaganza, Sonisphere Festival. The next two headliners look set to be revealed tonight, in a special announcement on BBC Radio 1 at 8.30PM.
The identity of the two remaining headliners is expected to be revealed by Radio 1's Rock Show DJ Daniel P Carter. Carter is a guest on DJ chum Zane Lowe's Evening Show tonight, with the announcement coming around 8.30PM.
Already confirmed for the international juggernaut of a festival that is Sonisphere, masked Iowa legends of metal Slipknot will be ending their tradegy-enduced hiatus and treading the boards of the massive Apollo stage.
Speaking about the forthcoming show, Slipknot commented. “We’re looking forward to spending our summer in Europe. This tour is about us and our fans. It’s about celebrating the life of our brother, Paul and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you this summer.” Fans have been told by Sonisphere organisers to expect more shocks as the line-up is revealed in the lead up to the 2011 rock event.
A statement from Sonisphere said. “Although the full line up for 2011 cannot yet be revealed, some hugely exciting names are already confirmed, and will be announced on Monday, alongside details of free festival tickets abroad, plus the return of Sonisphere’s hugely successful deposit scheme.”
Following the news that System Of A Down will be headlining Download 2011, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Van Halen, Whitesnake, Rob Zombie, Bon Jovi, Ozzy, Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, Rush, Green Day have all been rumoured to appear at 2011 UK festivals.
