Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History (Album Review)

"It’s going to be a fast paced, electro pop album. That’s our aim." Well it's been almost a year, and I think it's pretty safe to say, that Two Door Cinama Club have managed to achieve their aim.

Their first album 'Tourist History', released early 2010, reached number 46 in the UK album charts in 2010, as well as hitting a very well deserved number 22 in the Irish album charts, same year. The band got inspiration for the album and it's title from their hometown of Bangor, because of it's popularity with the tourists.

ImageDuring 2010, the album received a bucket full of positive reviews and radio plays of their two stunning singles 'What You Know' and 'Something Good an Work.' Both singles became instant classics in all indie electro-pop loving teens' summer playlists; and who can blame them! There's no doubt in the world that this band has a major talent for song writing. Fast-paced, dreamy vocals combined with jangly, 'seasidey' beats makes this track an absolute beaut! When the chorus kicks in, I seem to always feel the need to hand jive... listen to it, you'll see what I mean.

'What You Want' goes for the more serious tone, but is still, just as spectacularly put together as 'Something Good Can Work.' Modern, energetic and bursting with twangy guitar rifts and the flawless vocals of frontman Alex Trimble, this track is undoutably one my favourates.

If you want an example of what I said was a 'major talent for song writing', have a listen to 'Eat That Up', It's Good For You.' Perfectly fitted lyrics just seem to flow through the whole song. Also, this catchy little track surprisingly turns from almost shy-sounding, innocently honest vocals, to a very exciting, up-tempo, synthy solo.

Of course, by now you'll probably be thinking that this band mostly attract young female teens who like a bit of geek sheek and dreamy synth songs... well you're probably right. This band ain't no JLS or The Wanted but come on, six-packs and moody stares are so 2K10.

The talented young trio took the festivals of 2010 by storm and they plan to do the same this year! Playing festivals in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Isle of Wight in summer 2011 as well as also touring in March around London, Glasgow and Dublin... Don't miss out! This band has more than enough talent and energy to last them a good few years or so, so go and see them ASAP! Before they turn huge and their tickets start selling at ten times the price they are now.
