In the past, Kings of Leon have upset certain fans by ‘selling out’. Now they seem to have taken the Glee out of Ryan Murphy, the creator of the hit television series.
The ‘Sex on Fire’ singers have openly talked about being offered many a chance to sell out - including offers to appear on big TV shows like Glee and Ugly Betty – which they have openly rejected, with bass player Jared Followill saying “We could have sold out so much more, we turn stuff down constantly.”
But Murphy seems to have taken extra offence at the rejection from the Nashville based rockers, and has a blunt message for them: “F*ck you, Kings of Leon.”
He also later went on to say “They’re self centred assholes”.
Leon’s singer Caleb Followill responded hastily to the affair, saying that he only rejected the request as they didn’t know anything about the show. He then continued "This whole Glee thing is a shock to us. It’s gotten out of hand. At the time of the request, we hadn't even seen the show. It came at the end of that record cycle, and we were over promoting "Use Somebody". This was never meant as a slap in the face to Glee or to music education or to fans of the show. We're not sure where the anger is coming from."
Caleb’s response seemed mature enough, but third brother Nathan Followill retaliated with a scything tweet in response, saying "Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, and buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating 7yr olds how to say f*ck."
