Teenage Cancer Trust Announces Line-Up For Annual Royal Albert Hall Shows & Tickets

The line-up for the Teenage Cancer Trust's eleventh, annual music and comedy gigs at the Royal Albert Hall has been confirmed with the special live performances taking place between March 21st and March 27th. The brainchild of Teenage Cancer Trust Patron and The Who frontman Roger Daltrey CBE, the shows, which aid the charity that helps young people fight cancer, have featured some of the world's biggest bands and artists with 2011 being no exception!

Monday March 21st 2011 - The seven star-studded nights kick-off with performances from Liverpudlian stand-up and comedy award winner, John Bishop, Edinburgh Festival favourites and TV regulars Kevin Bridges and Greg Davies, plus other very special guests.

Tuesday March 22nd 2011 - The second night will see Squeeze performing. Squeeze have undertaken four major sold out tours of the US and UK and have become firm festival favourites, with hits like 'Up The Junction', 'Tempted' and 'Cool For Cats'. Long-time friends and collaborators, The Feeling, will be special guests on the night, alongside a few other surprise appearances. The new Squeeze line-up, features Squeeze veteran John Bentley, Tilbrook’s Fluffers cohort Simon Hanson and Steve Nieve the long-time pianist and organist for Elvis Costello.

Wednesday March 23rd 2011 - Fresh from a February tour of the US and Canada, Scottish rock trio and Brit Award nominees Biffy Clyro play their first UK date and their second appearance for Teenage Cancer Trust, having first performed in 2006. This is their only available UK date before July when they headline Sonisphere Knebworth and play as special guests to long time Teenage Cancer Trust supporters Foo Fighters at this year’s sold out Milton Keynes gigs.

Biffy Clyro came together in 1995 in a school in Kilmarnock, just outside of Glasgow, when childhood friends Simon Neil (vocals/guitar) and twins James (bass/vocals) and Ben Johnston (drums/vocals) started playing music together. United by a love of underground, experimental rock and post-hardcore bands such as Braid and Karate, along with the likes of Guns N’Roses and Metallica, they quickly honed their own unique sound.

Thursday March 24th 2011 - Following the phenomenal success of Quadrophenia for Teenage Cancer Trust in 2010, Roger Daltrey will perform The Who's 1969 rock opera Tommy as well as early hits including material from Live at Leeds. The legendary musician and the driving force behind Concerts for Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall will perform the album about the “deaf, dumb and blind kid.” Selling over 20 million copies worldwide, Tommy was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for ‘historical, artistic and significant’ value.

Friday March 25th 2011 - Liam Gallagher returns to Teenage Cancer Trust’s stage with new band Beady Eye after playing with Oasis in 2002. Formed with Oasis band members, guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and alongside drummer Chris Sharrock, the band will play songs from their eagerly anticipated debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, including new single The Roller. Its raw rock’n’roll one minute, and classic pop the next! This performance will mark Gem’s fifth appearance at the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Saturday March 26th 2011 - An explosive live performance is guaranteed when Editors: Tom Smith, Chris Urbanowicz, Russell Leech and Ed Lay break from writing their fourth album and return to the live stage for the first time since completing their 2010 world tour. With two UK number one albums in An End Has A Start and In This Light And On This Evening and a string of hit singles from Munich to Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors and Papillon, this will be Editor’s first 2011 date ahead of co-headlining Spain’s SOS 4.8 festival with Suede at the end of April.

Sunday March 27th 2011 - MOBO Award winning rapper Tinie Tempah plays the grand finale, marking the his first appearance at this intimate, atmospheric and iconic venue. The breakout star of 2010, who is also the most nominated artist at this year’s Brit Awards, will play hits from Disc-Overy. The album debuted at number one in October 2010 and includes chart topping singles Pass Out, Written in the Stars, Frisky and Miami 2 Ibiza.

Tinie rose to stardom after joining grime crew Nu Brand Flexx, before becoming a part of Terror Danjah's influential Aftershock collective. However, he decided to go solo in 2005 and saved up £800, to make his own video. Within weeks, Wifey Riddim became the hottest song and video on the underground, sitting at No.1 on the Channel U charts for over 10 weeks.
