Tom McRae Announces UK Dates For String Quartet Shows & Tickets

Acoustic singer songwriter Tom McRae has announced a short run of UK gigs scheduled for April as part of a brief European tour. The four dates will be performed along with a string quartet after he received positive reviews of a similar set up in Holland last year.
The Chelmsford born but now California based McRae has been wowing his small but dedicated group of fans with his wistful harmonies and sharp lyrics for ten years now and continues to find unique ways to make his live shows sound fresh and new. Over the years he has varied between touring solo or with a band and also brought a UK version of the ‘Hotel Café Tour’ to these shores twice.
Having burst onto the scene in 2001 with his astonishing self titled debut which earned nominations for the Mercury Music Prize as well as a Brit nomination as best newcomer, McRae has unfortunately slipped out of the mainstream but has continued to craft albums of outstanding beauty to rival any of his better selling peers.
His latest album ‘Alphabet Of Hurricanes’ played to his biggest UK crowds yet last year with Tom rising to the occasion and solidifying his reputation amongst his band of followers as one of the most entertaining live acts around. Melding his melancholic songs and haunting vocals with a self deprecating humour that keeps the mood light his live shows are an experience that live long in the memory.
The announcement of this tour comes along with news of a re-vamped website (www.tommcrae.com) and news that a second live album is currently being finished off and will be released later in the year to follow 2007’s ‘Live 2007’. Two teasers of the material for the album are available here
