Rosie Doonan - Lay Your Love (Single Review)

With folk music enjoying a fruitful revival thanks to the likes of Mumford and Sons and Laura Marling, it seems that the door is open for new talent to rise up and get some well deserved exposure.

Following a long list of fine musical talent produced by Yorkshire over the years, flame haired Rosie Doonan is next in line to make her mark.

ImageShe returns in March with her charmingly reflective lyrics and folk-tinged guitar. ‘Lay Your Love’, taken from her second album, is a sweet account of heartbreak. It’s the delicate delivery and the simple way that she expresses her deepest emotions that draws you in. That fused with the guitar strings that are plucked and strained as hard as her heartstrings, creates a personal tale of emotional turmoil that will capture your ears and melt your heart.

Growing up listening to Joni Mitchell and citing Laura Veirs as an influence has evidently inspired Rosie, but she takes a fresh and unique approach and carves out her own ethereal sound.

Warm, beautiful, captivating folk-pop from one of the brightest rising stars in British music, Rosie Doonan is touring throughout March with folk festival dates in the summer.

Released: 7th March 2011
Label: Silvertop Records
