New Florence And The Machine LP To Be ‘Finished By July’

Thursday, 09 June 2011 Written by James Conlon

Florence & The Machine producer Paul Epworth has announced that the band should have their much-anticipated second studio album finished by “late July”. In an interview with BBC 6 Music the producer, who boasts Bloc Party’s ‘Silent Alarm’ and Adele’s ‘21’ among his production credits, claimed that the album will be “a little less indie and a little bit more soulful”.

Epworth expressed his excitement about the band’s sophomore album, claiming that he “can’t wait” for fans to hear the material. He said: “I'm currently in the studio with Florence working on record number two, I can't wait for people to hear what we've been working on. At the moment I feel like the record will have a more stripped feel but it has a heavy rhythmic side to it. It's a little less Indie and a little bit more soulful."

Epworth continued: "She's amazing. She's worked really really hard to create such a big body of work, we've whittled a long list of songs to about sixteen. I just can't wait to get it done. The record will probably be finished by the end of July."

Meanwhile, lead singer Florence Welch recently discussed the ‘dark metaphors’ of the band's second album, saying: "A lot of the songs on the new album are about imaginary things, things that you can't touch - ghosts and rumours, my dead grandmother, things visiting you in a dream.”
