Kaiser Chiefs Nervous Radiohead Would ‘Steal Their Idea’

Kaiser Chiefs have recently admitted they were nervous that Radiohead had beaten them to their innovative album purchase idea. The band recently released their latest album ‘The Future Is Medieval’ in a ground-breaking way, however the five-piece have claimed that they were less than confident that they would be the first band to do so.
The innovative sales method involves fans listening to snippets of 20 tracks and choosing their favourite 10 to form their ‘personal album’. Fans can then select artwork for the release (from a number of choices) and create a webpage for their new ‘product’, with all purchases of that individual album earning the fan £1.
However, speaking to NME this week, drummer nick Hodgson stated that the band feared Radiohead would beat them to the punch. He said: "Three months ago, when Radiohead did the Lotus Flower video on the Monday and announced they were putting out The King of Limbs on the Friday, we got a bit nervous. We were like, 'Have they just done what we're going to do?'
He continued: "Then there were all those rumours, that they were going to put out another disc straight afterwards. But they didn't. It's been a bit stressful like that, because we've been keeping this secret for so long. There have been times when you get a bit drunk and feel like blurting it out."
Some have expressed their concerns that celebrities will make more money by creating their own ‘celebrity endorsed’ versions of the band’s new album, however Hodgson reacted to the claims by saying: "There is a danger that a lot of that money will go to celebrities. But we've nominated a registered charity they can give it to: The Alzheimer's Society."
