Duran Duran Forced to Cancel Dozens of European Shows

Duran Duran will leave thousands of fans disappointed this summer, as they cancel dozens of shows due to singer Simon Le Bon’s ongoing vocal problems.
The pop-rock band were due to embark on a European tour, starting a week today in Dublin, Ireland, but after lead vocalist Simon damaged his vocal chords at a gig in Cannes, the experienced four-piece were forced to cancel over 25 shows - including V Festival and iTunes Festival appearances. V Festival has since called in Calvin Harris to replace the absent Duran Duran.
Statements on the band’s official website revealed the bad news this morning.
"I know how difficult this has been for all of the fans,” wrote the out of action Simon. “We've been postponing shows with very little notice, in the hope each day that the improvement would have been significant enough for me to sing again without risking any long-term damage.
“I am doing everything I can to work through this and get back on track as soon as possible. We have an incredible production we’ve been working on for this tour – and the new songs are sounding great.
“This couldn’t have come at a worse time – but I am trying to be philosophical about my recovery as there’s nothing else I can do.”
