Former Craig David Collaborator Works with Ed Sheeran on New Single – Listen Now

Thursday, 14 July 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

British music producer Artful – real name Mark Hill – who was previously best-known as one half of the dance duo Artful Dodger, is to release his new single ‘Could Just Be the Bassline’ on 15th August through his own Workhouse Records. The track was co-written with rising star Ed Sheeran and features the vocal talents of singer Kal Lavelle, who is currently on tour with Sheeran. Ed Sheeran recently entered the Top 10 with his debut single ‘The A Team’ and is currently preparing for the release of his first album in September.

Hill helped to launch the career of R&B vocalist Craig David, when the Artful Dodger track ‘Re-Rewind’- an early collaboration with the singer - reached Number Two in the UK Singles Chart in 1999. The single was a breakthrough hit for David and has since been immortalised thanks to the infamous lyric: “The crowd say Bo Selecta”, which became the inspiration behind the title of Avid Merrion’s hit comedy series. Hill continued to work with Craig David for the singer’s first three albums.

Hill was also partly responsible for introducing Corinne Bailey Rae to the world, when she was featured on the album ‘Better Luck Next Time’ from his project The stiX in 1995, prior to the release of her own debut album the following year.
