Sheffield-based New Wave trio The Human League are to release their new single ‘Sky’ on 25th July. The track is the latest to be taken from their recently-released ninth album ‘Credo’, following ‘Night People’ and ‘Never Let Me Go’. ‘Credo’ is the first Human League album in ten years - the last being 2001’s ‘Secrets’. It was released through the Wall of Sound record label and entered the UK Albums Chart at Number 44. Listen to the Plastic Plates remix of ‘Sky’ below.
The Human League are due to be headlining North Yorkshire’s The Magic Loungeabout festival next weekend and will also be playing at the Flashback Festival in Worksop on 20th August. See below for tickets for both events.
The Human League were founded by Philip Oakey in 1977, although the current line-up featuring vocalists Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley have been together since 1980. The trio experienced the height of their career in the early to mid ‘80s following the release of their second album ‘Travelogue’. However, it was its successor ‘Dare’, which earned the group worldwide success, reaching Number One in four countries. It included three Top 10 hits, most notable of which was the album’s final single ‘Don’t You Want Me’, which became the 1981 Christmas Number One and went on to top the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
