'Michael Forever Tribute Concert' Announced For Cardiff's Millennium Stadium & Tickets

A huge Michael Jackson tribute concert, titled 'Michael Forever', will take place at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on October 8th 2011.

The one-off tribute concert will feature some of the planet's biggest artists and will be broadcast all over the world in 2D and 3D. The line-up is yet to be confirmed but is expected to include a variety of megastars that Jackson himself admired before his death in 2008.

Describing the concert as “a  unique celebration of the performer’s work to mark the 40th anniversary of his solo career”, members of Jackson's family announced the details of the forthcoming spectacle via an LA press conference yesterday. Michael’s mother, Katherine, said: “When I was told some of  the names of the artists performing I knew it would be fit for a king. If my son was here today he would feel the same  way. I will be there along with as  many members of my family that can make it. It is intended to  be the biggest and best concert in the world for many years to come.”

Cardiff's Millennium Stadium has been chosen for the event not only for its capacity to hold 75,000 people but for its intimate atmosphere that can be created when its sliding roof is closed.

Speaking about the concert, Chris Hunt, President of Global Live Events, the company behind organising the concert, said:  “This is an exciting moment for  Michael Jackson fans from  around the world. This event  will not be repeated.

“It will not be less than four  hours long and, rather than looking like a massive outdoor festival, we can create an intimate atmosphere that Michael would be proud to perform in.

“We wanted to do something  decent and worthy of Michael’s  musical genius yet something fun and authentic that you  would envision Michael attending with excitement and joy surrounded by talent that he respected and loved.”

The line-up for the concert is set to be announced on August 3rd with ticket prices ranging from £55 to £289 + fees. Ticket registration will open next week on August 4th. Please visit www.michaelforevertribute.com for more details.
