X-Factor’s Joe McElderry will be announcing his first full UK tour since his win in 2009.
The singer, who famously covered Miley Cyrus’ hit ‘The Climb’, revealed through his Twitter today that he would be embarking on a 16-date tour of the country in November. He also told fans that they would get a special pre-sale of tickets on August 23rd.
McElderry wrote: “Exclusively announcing my first UK tour 16 dates this Nov Special presale for my fans from Tue 23 Aug. Watch out for my tweet with the link.”
The tour will coincide with the release of his second album ‘Classic’, which goes on sale in the UK on August 22nd. The album shows a clear influence from the singer’s stint on Popstar to Operastar, which Joe won, and includes operatic tracks like ‘Nessun Dorma’, the track which sealed him the win on the ITV show.
“It’s not going to be pop,” said McElderry of ‘Classic’. “It’s going to be a lot of big, lush ballads. I wanted to do a few more ballads on my first album. It’s going to appeal to all my fans.
“I’m going to sing a few Italian songs. I’m not going to change my voice – I don’t want to scare people too much... I can’t reveal which label it’s with but it’s an amazing label.”
Although no dates have been announced yet, the tour has almost certainly been scheduled, so dates are expected to come out soon. Stereoboard will keep you updated on any Joe McElderry news in the future.
