Sunday, 21 August 2011 Written by Rob Sleigh

The Loading Bay Gallery in London’s Brick Lane are to host a new exhibition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s seminal second album ‘Nevermind’. They have asked for fans to get involved by sending in suitable photos for inclusion via a new website.

The exhibition will run for two weeks in September and will feature a collection of professional photographs and band memorabilia. On 26th September, the classic grunge album is to be re-issued in several formats, including a limited edition 4-CD/1-DVD box set. This will be coincided with the release of a new DVD and Blu-ray featuring a live performance by Nirvana at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre from 1991. This recording will also be included with the Super Deluxe Edition box set.

It was recently announced that former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic is to perform a selection of songs from ‘Nevermind’ at a concert in Seattle on 20th September. Novoselic will be performing alongside a number of other musicians, although the band’s drummer Dave Grohl is unlikely to be involved as he will be playing with Foo Fighters on the same night.

‘Nevermind’ was originally released in September 1991 and quickly became Nirvana’s bestselling album. It has since been certified Diamond in the US – meaning that it has sold over 10,000,000 units – and has become known as one of the greatest and most influential rock albums of the ‘90s.
