KISS Name Upcoming LP “Monster” & Reveal World Tour Plans

Monday, 22 August 2011 Written by James Conlon

Tongue-bearing rockers KISS have announced that their upcoming studio album has been given a title – the impressively theatrical ‘Monster’. The band are currently in Los Angeles writing and recording the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed 2009 release ‘Sonic Boom’, but despite still having to complete some of the record, the album title is said to be set in stone.

More excitingly for fans of the painted four-piece, KISS also went on to confirm that they are planning a full-scale world ‘Moster’ tour in 2012 and 2013, taking them to venues all across the globe.

Singer Gene Simmons broke the news during an interview with Alfa Rock 105.7 FM, speaking about the new material emerging from the band. Speaking to the station, he said: "The new record is going to be the next step to ‘Sonic Boom’. Very similar, straight rock songs, no ballads, no keyboards, no nothing, just rock.”

Simmons continued: “We have brand new songs that we've been writing. We've been writing a lot and there's some very good material and that's what we are going to record. A lot of the songs have been written by the whole band together, so no outside writers, just the band doing what it did on the first three records; write the songs ourselves.”

He went on: “Once you know who you are and how you breathe - because every song is like an animal - you try to bring life to the song so it becomes real. Once you know who you are, it's easy to do - just do what the animal does without thinking about what's popular, what a producer would do. You just do it like you would naturally do it."
