Florence and the Machine revealed that they would be releasing a new album this November, two years after their debut album Lungs hit #1 in the UK Albums chart. They also unveiled a new single, entitled ‘What the Water Gave Me’, which you can listen to below.
Florence Welsh and co. told fans yesterday that they could expect a surprise on their website today, and they kept their word as they uncovered their new 13-track LP to scores of their fans.
Florence also told fans of the influences behind their new track, stating that one of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo’s paintings had led to the name of the song and author Virginia Woolf’s death enthused the lyrics.
“A lot of the time when I'm writing, things will just appear,” Florence told fans. “I was writing the song and this book on symbolism was lying around, and it had the painting in it. It's nice to mix the ordinary with extraordinary.”
More details about the currently untitled album are expected to follow soon. In the meantime, enjoy Florence and the Machine’s new track ‘What the Water Gave Me’.
