 The new Muse single 'Supermassive Black Hole' was premiered today on XFm, and has already found its way on to the Internet.
Eager fans are downloading the new single, which is set to get its first play on more mainstream stations tomorrow. The single isn't officially released until June 19th.
Early reports of the new track are very encouraging, comparing the directional change to that of Stereophonics' Dakota which helped the Welsh band get their first Number 1 single back in 2005.
Muse fans feel Matt Bellamy and his band could also have their first Number 1 single on their hands, with a lively electro sound which would appeal to a wider audience.
One fan summed up he mood of 'Supermassive Black Hole' by saying, "This song is like crack. The more I listen to it, the more I want hear it again. It's creepy disco funk. And It's fookin' Muse doing creepy disco funk."
The bands follow-up to 2003's 'Absolution', 'Black Hole and Revelations', will be released on July 3rd. Speaking about the album, and its new direction for the band, singer Matt Bellamy said "I was going out dancing in clubs around New York. That helped create tracks like 'Supermassive Black Hole'. Franz (Ferdinand) have done it very well, with that dance type beat going on mixed with alternative guitar and I've always wanted to find that."

Ok, the song itself is ok, but just that, nothing more. If you heard it not knowing who it was you wouldnt know, there is nothing distinctive about it and it just doesnt sound like them. I love Muse for their fusion of classical/rock/electronica but more so for the emotions they pull you through in each song with great crescendos and climaxes. I heard the new track when it was first played in XFM, n was not impressed. on hearing it again its ok, but is not the MUSE most fans have come to love. MUSE themsleves say its a new direction after glasto. I gotta be honest, it really is. It basically been realised to be a hit for a mainstream audience, when i first heard it i instantly thought of TOPSHOP playing while happi shoppers spend their cash. SMBH is not the grandure and extravagance that elates most muse fans.The album has much better tracks on it, which altho not yet released (altho quite clearly leaked on the internet)should satisfy the fans of the class that was Showbiz and Origin. Completely diverse this track is mayb, but not enough that it wont b mainstream. | 57. No comment...

The first time i heard it (same day it got released) i was shocked. I loved it just from the first couple seconds.I heard it once. I heard it twice. I put it on my Ipod and i haven't stopped listening to it yet. It was the only thing i listened to the first 2 or 3 days. It's amasing. You people who are bashing and hating the song just because it's not your old new born or citisen erazed are really fucked in the head. Bands evolve. Every band does. Muse do 2. And this is it. And it is amasing. SMBH, number 1 or not, this song is pretty much crap.
It just lacks the grandeur of other muse songs.. and if muse wants to make a change then at least give it all the right ingredients that is MUSE and not just a crappy simplistic music like SMBH.
There's just not enough depth in the music, unlike the others.
Maybe MUSE should make a quick live rendition of SMBH again to save the song

People seem to be complaining because Muse are trying something different, I say good on 'em! Would you really wanna eat your favourite meal day after day? Even if it was fantastic to start with, it'd just end up boring after a while. Muse are doing what they do best, striking out in a new direction, and doing it fantastically. I'll admit it was a bit of a shock when I heard the opening lines, but after a minute, I was hooked. I had to find it and listen to it again and again.
I say embrace the change, and those who can't are too narrow minded to accept anything other than one genre of music. The kind of people who when asked what they like listening to, respond with "Rock", or "Grunge" or whatever, and not "Anything that sounds great" These people need to open their eyes. Or their ears rather, and accept something outside the little boxes they seal themselves in...

Another masterpiece from Muse, even though some people feel that this song is nothing like muse and is actally pretty crap.
Those who think this obviously don't have a clue about music!! This may not sound like typical muse, but it is brilliant how they change the style of their music constantly. The song is extremely catchy and I think it could reach number 1 when released. It has serious potential. I don't think the rest of the album will sound like this though... there will be songs that have your amazing guitar riffs and piano pieces, so no worries about it bein all the same stuff!!! I dunno, it's not the muse that I'm used to... doesnt even sound like bellamy, sounds more like prince to me. stuff like Time is Running Out and Hysteria, what happened to that kind of stuff? Supermassive Black Hole had all this hype like it was gonna be the best muse song yet and it didnt even compare to anything on Origin of Symetry. I gotta say I'm kinda dissapointed, Muse have taken a fall from grace with this new song, in my opinion. | 36. Hm.
