The new Muse single 'Supermassive Black Hole' was premiered today on XFm, and has already found its way on to the Internet.
Eager fans are downloading the new single, which is set to get its first play on more mainstream stations tomorrow. The single isn't officially released until June 19th.
Early reports of the new track are very encouraging, comparing the directional change to that of Stereophonics' Dakota which helped the Welsh band get their first Number 1 single back in 2005.
Muse fans feel Matt Bellamy and his band could also have their first Number 1 single on their hands, with a lively electro sound which would appeal to a wider audience.
One fan summed up he mood of 'Supermassive Black Hole' by saying, "This song is like crack. The more I listen to it, the more I want hear it again. It's creepy disco funk. And It's fookin' Muse doing creepy disco funk."
The bands follow-up to 2003's 'Absolution', 'Black Hole and Revelations', will be released on July 3rd. Speaking about the album, and its new direction for the band, singer Matt Bellamy said "I was going out dancing in clubs around New York. That helped create tracks like 'Supermassive Black Hole'. Franz (Ferdinand) have done it very well, with that dance type beat going on mixed with alternative guitar and I've always wanted to find that."

62. WOW Written by joan on Friday, 20 October 2006 great! i love it! and...........unspeakable... | 61. really love Written by Guest on Friday, 20 October 2006 i could never stop listening the song, matthew, i luv uuuuu....muuaxs | 60. utter poo Written by poop on Wednesday, 05 July 2006 all good things must come to an end. just as all empires are doomed to someday fall, all political campaigns soon loose focus, nothing gold can stay...so every good band seems to sell out. this song is a sellout. i mean, anyone who admits to having franz ferdinand as a role model (which bellamy did) is admitting that they have sold out. people will like this song. non-muse fans will like it. that's why it is a sellout. | 59. Heres hoping the albums not the same... Written by Hannah on Tuesday, 20 June 2006 Ok, the song itself is ok, but just that, nothing more. If you heard it not knowing who it was you wouldnt know, there is nothing distinctive about it and it just doesnt sound like them. I love Muse for their fusion of classical/rock/electronica but more so for the emotions they pull you through in each song with great crescendos and climaxes. SBH is just very samey all the way through, im still wating for the kick... | 58. Not that great Written by me on Monday, 19 June 2006 I heard the new track when it was first played in XFM, n was not impressed. on hearing it again its ok, but is not the MUSE most fans have come to love. MUSE themsleves say its a new direction after glasto. I gotta be honest, it really is. It basically been realised to be a hit for a mainstream audience, when i first heard it i instantly thought of TOPSHOP playing while happi shoppers spend their cash. SMBH is not the grandure and extravagance that elates most muse fans. The album has much better tracks on it, which altho not yet released (altho quite clearly leaked on the internet)should satisfy the fans of the class that was Showbiz and Origin. Completely diverse this track is mayb, but not enough that it wont b mainstream. | 57. No comment... Written by Adrian on Sunday, 11 June 2006 The first time i heard it (same day it got released) i was shocked. I loved it just from the first couple seconds.I heard it once. I heard it twice. I put it on my Ipod and i haven't stopped listening to it yet. It was the only thing i listened to the first 2 or 3 days. It's amasing. You people who are bashing and hating the song just because it's not your old new born or citisen erazed are really fucked in the head. Bands evolve. Every band does. Muse do 2. And this is it. And it is amasing. If there weren't such assholes to bash the song every 2 fuckin' seconds maybe in a couple of years we wouldn't be remembering "the song recieved bad reviews and was not acclaimed by muse fans!"... | 56. Decent Written by Guest on Saturday, 03 June 2006 I'm a fan since Showbiz and I think its a damn good song. However the others on the album are better, well at least the ones i've heard. Knights is straight off origin, I'm in heaven. | 55. hate this and i'll love you Written by mikeadyla on Saturday, 27 May 2006 SMBH, number 1 or not, this song is pretty much crap. It just lacks the grandeur of other muse songs.. and if muse wants to make a change then at least give it all the right ingredients that is MUSE and not just a crappy simplistic music like SMBH. There's just not enough depth in the music, unlike the others. Maybe MUSE should make a quick live rendition of SMBH again to save the song
| 54. Yeah Written by Green Gecko on Friday, 26 May 2006 "... they definitely took a wrong turn." Yes, they are WRONG and your opinion is RIGHT. Stupid "I'm a critic" attitude. | 53. Woo Written by Guest on Friday, 26 May 2006 Whoever said this song is crack is right on. This is electronic crack best accompanied by a nighttime ethos and a visualizer! | 52. Average Written by Bradley on Tuesday, 23 May 2006 It's not awful, but I feel the production lets this song down alot. Dynamically it's dead. It needs some dynamics!!!! But yeah still, I like the song. | 51. Its like.. Written by Tom on Sunday, 21 May 2006 Our Time Is Running Out part II. That was an unusual single off Absolution. After listening to both of these songs a few times, I grew to love them both. The intro reminds me of Marilyn Manson, and when it kicks in -- I dunno, I just really like it. I can't wait to hear this out on the town. Thats what it sounds meant for. | 50. bla Written by ur ma on Saturday, 20 May 2006 supermassive blackhole rocks | 49. Excellent Written by Mudman on Saturday, 20 May 2006 People seem to be complaining because Muse are trying something different, I say good on 'em! Would you really wanna eat your favourite meal day after day? Even if it was fantastic to start with, it'd just end up boring after a while. Muse are doing what they do best, striking out in a new direction, and doing it fantastically. I'll admit it was a bit of a shock when I heard the opening lines, but after a minute, I was hooked. I had to find it and listen to it again and again. I say embrace the change, and those who can't are too narrow minded to accept anything other than one genre of music. The kind of people who when asked what they like listening to, respond with "Rock", or "Grunge" or whatever, and not "Anything that sounds great" These people need to open their eyes. Or their ears rather, and accept something outside the little boxes they seal themselves in... Rant over. | 48. LOVE IT!!! Written by NumberONEMuser on Friday, 19 May 2006 I LOVE IT SO SO MUCH!!! yes, it sounds VERY DIFFERENT to their other stuff but thats wha makes them unique!! u dont hav to sound the same all the time u knw. MUSE ROX MY SOX!!! *big smiles* hehe | 47. NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Written by Guest on Thursday, 18 May 2006 am gutted, dont even sound like muse. | 46. dog poo! Written by Guest on Thursday, 18 May 2006 the song was poo, dog poo. | 45. Amazing Song Written by Expert on Thursday, 18 May 2006 Another masterpiece from Muse, even though some people feel that this song is nothing like muse and is actally pretty crap. Those who think this obviously don't have a clue about music!! This may not sound like typical muse, but it is brilliant how they change the style of their music constantly. The song is extremely catchy and I think it could reach number 1 when released. It has serious potential. I don't think the rest of the album will sound like this though... there will be songs that have your amazing guitar riffs and piano pieces, so no worries about it bein all the same stuff!!! An amazing song, cannot fault it! Muse just keep on getting better and better..... | 44. funky Written by Rhi on Tuesday, 16 May 2006 i think its a great song, especially the intro with the deep guitar. makes u wanna get up n move about. my favourite muse song of all time is sing for absolution, but im liking this one aswell. Change or no change, theyre pretty damn good | 43. CRITIC'D Written by Elation on Monday, 15 May 2006 Hey look, Muse pulled a Celda. | 42. says it all Written by Wolf Aramis on Monday, 15 May 2006 36. Hm. Written by Adam on Friday, 12 May 2006Oh man. Yeah, it's catchy. Yeah, it sounds cool.... But it's just not the Muse, I, nor any other long term Muse fan is used to - could it be my beloved band are selling out? Or is it truly just an experimental phase? But this is the weird thing... the experiment isn't going down the way of prog rock, with guitar wankery, or lots of sound effects, it's simple riffs, and a very simple song structure... I like the song, but I'm disappointed. I was expecting something epic, something to beat all their earlier singles - all I see here is a chart song... very true..I feel the same about it..it isn't a bad song..it's just not as good as their old stuff. And strange enough it has a R & B beat/rhytmn | 41. it's muse. Written by Sliver. on Monday, 15 May 2006 people who think they were going to make another album like their last one were sadly mistaken. They don't fit the mold, they are constantly trying to recreate themselves. These guys are seriously talented. Keep listening to the song. It grows on you like herion. | 40. muse Written by lowenget on Sunday, 14 May 2006 the new muse song is not the thing i was looking for its a bit like britney spears but its only 1 song so god knows wot the other track are gonna be like | 39. Mr. Written by Hat on Saturday, 13 May 2006 To the people who say that this is not muse....um...it is...they wrote it and play the damn thing. So as long as they are not under the influence of a label(which doesn't seem like them) I'm well happy that they are exploring new avenues in music. Music is all about having fun and that is what they seem to be doing! A SuperMassive Thumbs up from me anyway!! | 38. yeah,i really like it Written by michelle on Saturday, 13 May 2006 maybe this song doesnt look like muse, but i like the way they made their new style...this song is dancy... | 37. mac Written by guest on Saturday, 13 May 2006 I dunno, it's not the muse that I'm used to... doesnt even sound like bellamy, sounds more like prince to me. stuff like Time is Running Out and Hysteria, what happened to that kind of stuff? Supermassive Black Hole had all this hype like it was gonna be the best muse song yet and it didnt even compare to anything on Origin of Symetry. I gotta say I'm kinda dissapointed, Muse have taken a fall from grace with this new song, in my opinion. | 36. Hm. Written by Adam on Saturday, 13 May 2006 Oh man. Yeah, it's catchy. Gets me toes a tappin Written by TC on Friday, 12 May 2006 Latest offrin from the mighty Muse... brilliant! Makes me wanna boogie, do my thang... Can't wait for the album. Can the boys do no wrong? | 34. Grew on me Written by ~*Supermassive Black Hole*~ on Friday, 12 May 2006 The new Muse single 'Supermassive Black Hole' from their new album 'Black Holes and Revelations' came to a bit of a shock to me the first time i heard it. But i've listened to it again and again and again and i love it! I was worried about Muse changing, but how could a band this amazing ever be bad? | 33. i havent heard it aaaaaarrrg!
