Jessie J Dominates At 2011 MOBO Awards

Tinie Tempah, Adele, Dappy and Tinchy Stryder were amongst those honoured with a MOBO Award last night, whilst Jessie J walked away with a staggering four gongs!

With pop prince Jason Derulo and Alesha Dixon as the evening's hosts, the 16th MOBO Awards took place last night at the SECC in Glasgow and was televised live on BBC3. Missed the show? You can watch highlights this Friday, 7th October, on BBC1 at 11:45pm.

Jessie J had a triumphant evening, firstly due to her daredevil stage performance (without a leg cast for one of her first performances since her accident back in June) followed by a sweep of winning 4 of her 5 nominated categories for Best UK Act, Best Album, Best Newcomer and Best Song.

Tinie Tempah was the man of the hour, fighting off competition for the Best Hip Hop/Grime category, while Adele also came up trumps winning Best R&B/ Soul Act and Rihanna pipped the likes of Beyoncé and Bruno Mars to the post by grabbing the Best International Act Award. All winners were voted for by fans via www.mobo.com and respective media partners.

The Awards Show itself saw performances throughout the evening with Professor Green and Emeli Sandé performing together as did Dubstep/Grime girls Katy B and Ms Dynamite. To cap it all, Dappy and Tinchy Stryder wowed the audience with their elaborate stage performance of hit single 'Spaceship', for which they picked up the Best Video award. London rapper Wretch 32, gorgeous Glaswegian Yasmin, co-host Jason Derulo and US teen sensation Alexis Jordan also gave electrifying performances.

Joining the talent performing on the night was Dionne Bromfield, the Goddaughter of the late Amy Winehouse, who belted out a thoroughly moving rendition of Amy's 'Love Is A Losing Game', in a fitting tribute including a video montage of the late MOBO Award winning singer.

Seminal R&B group Boyz II Men took to the stage to pick up the well-deserved Outstanding Contribution to Music Award and then went on to bring the house down with a medley of hits from their multi-platinum selling albums. The award was presented by JLS, who flew in to Glasgow by private jet especially to present to Boyz II Men, who they cite as musical inspirations.
