30 Seconds To Mars Announce Record Breaking 300th Album Show

American rockers 30 Seconds to Mars have broken a Guinness World Record after playing 300 shows – in support of just one album.

The 300th show is lined-up to go ahead in New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom on December 7th, and after they’ve played, they’ll officially hold the title for ‘Most Amount of Shows in a Single Album Cycle’ – after their third studio album ‘This Is War’ came out in December 2009. It’ll also be their final show supporting the album, as they take a break from their extensive live routine.

Frontman Jared Leto talked about the record breaking haul of shows, describing the adventure as “insane.”

“We have been on the road for an incredible and insane two years and thought what better way to celebrate the end of this phenomenal journey than with a week of special shows in New York City.

“We thought documenting this for posterity with the Guiness Book of World Records would be fun especially as we aren’t any good at growing our fingernails very long or cultivating the world’s largest squash.”

‘This Is War’ has been one of the band’s most successful albums to date, and has earned them seven VMA nominations, including ‘Best Rock Video’ which they won for ‘Kings & Queens’. It’s sold over one million copies worldwide – so it’s easy to see why the band wanted to tour it so extensively.

30 Seconds to Mars tour through France and Europe this November, before they come to their ultimate gig in New York. If you want to see the band live this winter, click here to compare & buy 30 Seconds to Mars tickets at Stereoboard.
