U2’s iconic frontman Bono has raised questions about the future of the band, saying that if they didn’t retire on this album, there’d at least be a lengthy wait for another one.
After being announced as the greatest act of the past 25 years last night, U2 may quit producing music forever after the re-release of their 1991 album ‘Achtung Baby’, which comes out this Halloween (October 31st). He also told the Rolling Stone that the band is unhappy with his constant talk about their relevance to music right now.
“I'm not so sure the future hasn't dried up,” Bono said. “The band are like, 'Will you shut up about being irrelevant?' We'd be very pleased to end on [2009 studio album] 'No Line On The Horizon' [but] I doubt that.”
He continued on to say that if in album comes out, it won’t be coming out any time soon.
“We have so many [new] songs, some of our best. But I'm putting some time aside to just go and get lost in the music. I want to take my young boys and my wife and just disappear with my iPod Nano and some books and an acoustic guitar.”
