Following today’s news that Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba recently suffered a broken leg in an accident, the singer has since announced via his Twitter page that the band’s upcoming UK tour dates will have to be postponed as a result. The tour had been due to start this Saturday in London.
In a Twitter post made earlier today, Skiba wrote: “Got a walking cast I can take on and off but I can't actually walk on/put weight on it for several weeks. Our UK dates will be made up ASAP.”
He later added: “My sincerest apologies to all our fans in the UK and in Germany. Once I'm healed we'll be back to play for you guys as soon as we can.Love,M.”
As previously reported by Stereoboard, the frontman had revealed over the weekend that another vehicle had run over his foot while he was at a red light on his motorcycle, leaving him with a closed fracture on his ankle bone and a fractured metatarsal. Prior to today's revelation, Skiba had announced that he was waiting for a full diagnosis before a decision could be made about the tour.
No official announcement has been made yet, so it remains unclear as to which dates are affected. However, it seems likely that the entire tour will be rescheduled to a later date. Check back with Stereoboard for further announcements.
