Gun Confirm Second Glasgow Show & Details Of New Album

Scottish rockers Gun, probably best known for their cover of 'Word Up!', originally by Cameo, will return with two live Glasgow dates in mid-December. In addition to the shows, fans can also look forward to a new album.

Forming back in 1987, Gun’s contemporary take on authentic rock gave them an edge over their peers during the mid-80s.  Formed in Glasgow by the Gizzi brothers, their debut album, 'Taking On The World', brought with it many successful singles, appearances, and guest slots with acts such as; The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Simple Minds, Bryan Adams and Def Leppard.

Following critically-acclaimed albums, singles, many awards and line-up changes, Gun decided to call it a day in 1998.  Fast forward 10 years to 2008, the band's decision to reunite was met with an enthusiastic response.

A 20th anniversary 'Taking On The World' tour was followed with the Gizzi brothers settling into writing mode, resulting in mini album 'Popkiller'. Enthused by their return to the live scene in 2008 and 2009, and the positive response from a loyal fan base, Jools and Dante decided to go into the studio to record a new album.  Fellow Glaswegians Paul McManus on drums and Derek Brown on bass completed the new line-up.

2011 has seen the band go from strength to strength.  When not playing gigs in the UK and Europe they have spent the rest of their time writing new material for their as yet untitled new album, due to be release in 2012.

The new album, the band's first full-length in fourteen years, will be recorded at the infamous Rockfield Studios in Wales alongside producer Dave Eringa, the mastermind behind artists such as The Manic Street Preachers and Ocean Colour Scene.

Check out a sneak preview of an album track, ‘Last Train From Central’, at Gun's official website www.gunofficial.co.uk.

Warming-up for live shows in 2012, Gun will headline Glasgow’s infamous King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in December 2011, with a second night being added due to phenomenal demand.

Gun UK Live Dates are as follows:

December 2011

Dec 17th - Glasgow, King Tuts Wah Wah
Dec 18th - Glasgow, King Tuts Wah Wah - NEW DATE
