Fleet Foxes Drummer Joshua Tillman Leaves Band

Washington-based folk rockers Fleet Foxes have parted ways with their drummer Joshua Tillman according to a post on his official Tumblr site.

Tillman had been part of the band for almost four years, and helped them record and produce their eponymous debut album, which came out in June 2008. Following three years of decent success, which saw their debut album and second album ‘Helplessness Blues’ hit #3 and #2 in the UK charts respectively, the sticksman has officially left the band. No reasons have been given as of yet, so it’s unknown whether they he left on sour terms.

The statement on Tumblr read: “Farewell Fleet fans and friends. Back into the gaping maw of obscurity I go. Tokyo is my last show with the Foxes. Sorry if I was distant and obtuse if we ever met. Have fun.” What’s also unknown is whether the drummer, who also sings and can play guitar, will keep making music, having released a number of solo albums and singles since his solo debut ‘I Will Return’ in 2005.

The move will come as a shock to Fleet Foxes fans, especially as the band have been nominated for ‘Best International Group’ at next month’s BRIT Awards. Stay with Stereoboard for future Fleet Foxes news, so you can find out exactly why Tillman has parted ways.
