Hall of Fame Inductees The Small Faces to Re-release First Four Albums

‘60s rhythm and blues band The Small Faces are to release their first four albums as special Deluxe Editions featuring non-album singles and previously-unreleased alternative versions. The albums, which are due out on 7th May, were originally released between 1966 and the band’s first break-up in 1968. The Small Faces were recently named among the latest inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside the likes of Beastie Boys, Guns N’ Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The Small Faces were founded in London in 1965 by frontman Steve Marriott, bassist Ronnie Lane, drummer Kenney Jones and original keyboard player Jimmy Winston. After a line-up change, which saw the band’s new keyboard player Ian McLagan replace Winston, The Small Faces released their eponymous debut in 1966. It was followed by the albums ‘From The Beginning’, their second eponymous album and 1968’s ‘Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake’. They also had a number of hit singles including ‘Itchycoo Park’ and ‘Lazy Sunday’.

After the group’s first split in 1968, Jones, Lane and McLagan went on to form the Faces with Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood. The Small Faces reformed in 1975 to record two more albums. Sadly however, Ronnie Lane left the band before recording began after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
