Natalie McCool - Fortune (Single Review)

With a string of tour dates, single and EP releases, and backing from BBC 6Music, Natalie McCool is starting to imprint her name in the music industry. 'Fortune' is Natalie's new single, and with BBC Radio 2 already playing the track, it looks like this could be the one to start catapulting her into the star status that she deserves.

The growth in 'Fortune' is obvious. A more mature, tight and fuller sound, Natalie has moved with her career to produce possibly her best single to date. Her trademark haunting vocals penetrate through the building sound. A chilling intro and verse building into a full vocal-layered chorus, it's quite reminiscent of some of Florence and the Machine's biggest hits - the similar build up into a huge, almost epic chorus. Festival crowds are calling for Natalie this summer without a doubt.

With yet another fantastic video to accompany 'Fortune', it's obvious that Natalie McCool is one very hard working singer-songwriter. She is a constant performer, with consistently great releases, and it seems that the hard work is paying off, not just in recognition, but in the growth of her song writing and polished vocals.

Having just announced that she will be supporting Joan Armatrading in November at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall, it looks as if 2012 could be Natalie's year. A support slot with someone of Joan Armatrading's calibre doesn't come easy to just anyone, and it's a testament to Natalie's talent and hard work that she's been given this fantastic opportunity.

If you're a fan of Florence and other similar female artists, gorgeous haunting vocals, and talented, up and coming, soon to be stars then check out Natalie McCool, and particularly 'Fortune' - you won't be disappointed.
