In a claim that sounds like it was taken from your average stoner conversation, Foo Fighter frontman Dave Grohl has said that he wants to record the band’s next album in outer space.
The Foo Fighters are working on their eighth studio album which could see a release at some point in the year, despite only releasing their latest album ‘Wasting Light’ last year. After a hugely-successful 2011, which has seen them pick up a number of awards – including five Grammys at last Sunday’s ceremony – Grohl only wants to take the band further – and it looks like space may be the final frontier for the Foos.
“We have an idea,” Grohl enthused to MTV. “It's kind of a really big idea. [We're going to record it] in space. To tape. An analogue moonshot.”
Grohl went on to talk about his up and coming documentary about Sound City Studios, which has seen him record a track with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and legendary rocker and record producer Butch Vig.
“We released a teaser trailer ... there may be an album that accompanies [it]. I recorded a lot of songs with a lot of people in the past couple months. There used to be a recording studio called Sound City that was in the San Fernando Valley. Nirvana recorded there in 1991. It was this really beautiful dump in the middle of a warehouse district. A lot of great records were made there.”
