Indiana Stage Collapse 'The Fan's Own Fault', Say Sugarland Lawyers

American country duo Sugarland’s lawyers have released a new statement which has suggested that the injuries caused by the tragic stage collapse incident which occurred at the Indiana State Fair last August are the fault of the fans themselves and have nothing to do with the band.
Horrendous weather and 70mph gusts of wind contributed to the collapse of the stage, which you can see below, during summer last year, with the incident leaving seven people dead and almost 50 others seriously injured. In the aftermath of the event, though, a number of fans have grouped together to launch a lawsuit against the band – saying that the pair of performers should have cancelled the show prior to the stage caving in.
But now, the band have responded with their own accusations, saying that the whole thing was an ‘act of God’, that some or all of the injuries ‘resulted from their own fault’ and that the fans themselves were at fault for ‘exercising due care for their own safety’.
They did go on to say that their fans were the ‘most important thing’ to them – writing: “Sadly, when a tragedy occurs, people want to point fingers and try to sensationalise the disaster. The single most important thing to Sugarland are their fans. Their support and love over the past nine years has been unmatched. For anyone to think otherwise is completely devastating to them.”
