One Direction have made some best friends in Nickelodeon boyband Big Time Rush, but the US group may regret inviting their British counterparts on their stateside tour - because Harry Styles and co. are apparently putting them to shame!
Big Time Rush are already an establish named in the pop music scene in the states and are headlining the tour, which will see the two groups travel across the US and Canada, performing in the Palace Theatre in New York tonight.
But, with X-Factor boyband One Direction appearing on iCarly and releasing a few of their tracks across the pond, the boys seem to be showing the Americans how us British do things – and are proving to be more popular with fans than the main act themselves, with some even leaving the venue after One Direction’s seven song set had ended.
The Toronto Star reported: “When One Direction left the stage after seven songs, a noticeable portion of the crowd joined them... Despite BTR's Herculean 75-minute effort, it seemed most fans preferred the simpler approach of warm-up act - or should we say, co-headliner - One Direction. At least one band's career direction is on the rise. Bieber beware, and parents, guard your wallets.”
And the boys aren’t forgetting their local fans – they used the BRIT Awards to announce a new, 2013 UK tour – and the tickets have been selling at insane rates. The group’s PR Twitter account even wrote that the lads were managing to shift as many as 1,000 tickets per second.
