Charlie Simpson Releases Animated Video For 'Farmer & His Gun' - Watch Now

Following the success of his Top Six debut solo album ‘Young Pilgrim’, Charlie Simpson is to release a brand new EP entitled ‘Farmer & His Gun’ later this month. Today Charlie has unveiled the music video to accompany the EP's lead track.
Charlie's ‘Farmer & His Gun’ EP, which is released on 25th March, will coincide with his UK tour and biggest solo show to date at London’s Koko on 22nd March. The EP will contain four tracks, including a re-recorded version of 'Farmer & His Gun', the original home recorded demo ‘Barricades Of Heaven’ (a Jackson Browne cover) and ‘Lost’. The EP will be available as a digital download, CD and two 7” Vinyls and will be accompanied by a video from acclaimed animation director Alice Dupre who’s previous work includes ‘Scott Pilgrim vs The World’ and ‘Nanny McPhee’.

The 'Watership Down' inspired video was created by acclaimed animation director Alice Dupré who has worked on projects for feature films and TV such as Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Robert Popper’s Friday Night Dinner and Kirk Jones’ Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang.
Charlie described why he chose Alice to create the video: "I met Alice via a friend of mine Corin Hardy, who is a film maker and has worked on some Fightstar videos in the past. I loved how she totally understood the sentiment behind the track, so we got talking about her using her animation skills on it. A big influence on the idea was 'Watership Down' which is a total classic."
October 2011 saw Charlie sell out a number of dates including London’s Islington Academy. March 2012 sees Charlie hit the road again to play shows in Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh to name but a few. A number of shows have also been confirmed for Austin’s SXSW Festival.
