Oritsé Williams, one quarter of X-Factor boyband JLS, has revealed that he’s written a track for US superstar Usher – and is currently waiting to find out whether the tune has made the final cut for his new album.
The singer, who admitted that he writes songs for both the group and for other people, formed JLS back in 2006 and helps write the groups tracks alongside Marvin, JB and Aston. Now, it’s been revealed that he also wrote Jedward’s last single ‘Wow Oh Wow’ – and has been penning tracks for stars like Usher too.
“I write songs and try songwriting for other people as much as possible,” Williams told The Daily Record. “I keep writing and writing. I pitched a song for Usher the other day and haven't heard anything back yet, but I wrote a song for Jedward - their last single 'Wow Oh Wow'. It wasn't widely known. I didn't initially write the song for them, but when they were looking for songs, I thought it would be perfect. Louis Walsh called me up and said, 'I heard you wrote this song. Can I use it for Jedward?' and I said, 'Why not? Go for it'.”
He continued: “I'd love to write with Ne-Yo, or Bruno Mars, and also Gary Barlow. One day, if there is an opportunity, I'll take it up.”
