Infamous Mayhem Guitarist To Be The New Face Of Norwegian Airlines?

Norwegian black metal band Mayhem are perhaps most commonly associated with murder and church burning, however, they may soon be the four new faces of Norwegian Airlines. Øystein Aarseth, aka Euronymous, the guitarist of Mayhem, who was murdered by bassist Varg Vikernes in August 1993 – may soon be the image painted on the tail fins of Norwegian aeroplanes.
This is all part of a competition held by the airline to celebrate it's 10th anniversary. There are four planes based in Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger which will bear the faces of deceased Norwegian heroes. The nominees range from footballer Knut Torbjørn Eggen to Trond André
Bolle, a Norwegian military officer who died in Afganistan and was awarded the cross for bravery.
Mayhem are not only known for their music but also their gruesome and anti-Christian activities. They are associated with numerous murders, suicides and church-burnings, so Norwegian Christians are unsurprisingly not impressed with Euronynous doing so well in the polls and have instead been encouraging people to vote for evangelicals and missionaries over the black metal icon, or even over scientists or engineers.
Metal fans, however, are rallying behind Euronymous who currently has the most votes in Oslo and any fans who haven't voted are urged to go on the airlines website www.halehelter.no and cast their vote in the competition, which closes tomorrow, the 28th March.
