Superstar soul singer Adele will release some new material before the end of the year, she has revealed.
The star, whose sophomore album ‘21’ has seen her become one of the most successful artists of all-time, will hopefully put out a new track before the climax of 2012 – but also told fans that a third record won’t be out until next year at the soonest.
Speaking to a French radio station, Adele said: “There will be a new song, probably coming out at the end of the year. But then it depends how quickly I write some other new songs. [A new album] won't be for a good two years. I have to write it! It takes a while.”
She went on to talk about the pressures of following up such an incredibly high-selling album like ’21’, with the star saying she doesn’t feel like she has to match the dizzy heights of the record – as what happened with ‘21’ is ‘very rare’.
“I never ever expected the success of my first album, let alone how many records [21] has sold. I don't really feel the pressure for the next record to be big as my last one, as I know it's not really possible. What's happened with [21] is very rare, anyway. I have to convince with my songs again and that's where the pressure comes from. That's me putting pressure on myself.”
‘21’ has become one of the best-selling albums of recent times, and helped Adele recently overtake Pink Floyd in their all-time album sales.
