One Direction US Receive Death Threats Over Legal Action

Sean O'Leary, frontman of US rockers One Direction – who are suing the world-famous boyband of the same name – has revealed that fans of their X-Factor counterparts have been sending them death threats following the revelation that they'd filed a lawsuit against the group.

The Californians have been using the One Direction name since 2009, and were the first of the two bands to record an album. But, with one an independent pub-rock band, and the other an internationally renowned, multi-million pound boyband backed by mega-powerful music mogul Simon Cowell, the outcome looks rather bleak for the Americans – though their manager Dan O'Leary stated that they 'wouldn't be pushed around'.

But now, it seems its not just Cowell and his Syco company that they need to look out for, but the One Direction fans themselves – who've been sending them death threats.

“There has been so much hate mail, like people threatening to cut our balls off,” Sean told The Sun. The one that stands out for me is a girl saying she wanted to kill my father.” He went on to say that the British fans who've accused them of being copy-cats are 'confused'.

Whether they win or lose the court case, Cowell's One Direction will be touring the UK in 2013. One Direction UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows:
