Jonathan Davis, frontman of iconic nu-metal pioneers Korn, has revealed how brostep producer Skrillex acted ‘like a little kid’ when they met up to work on their collaborative new album ‘The Path of Totality’ – and confessed he had been ‘keeping tabs’ on the star for a while before he called him to work on the record.
The two acts merged their talents to release the marmite album last year, creating some of the first metal/dubstep cross-overs since dubstep came into existence in around 2006. But, while Skrillex is now known internationally as one of the biggest names in dubstep, Davis told NME that the producer, a.k.a Sonny Moore, how he was totally starstruck when it came to meeting with his band at the studio.
Davis revealed: “I called him and said 'Hey man, it's Jonathan. I wanted to know if you wanted to come write with 'Korn'. And he was all 'Fuck yes'. So he came down and he was like a little kid in there. I knew he was a huge Korn fan, and I knew he did some projects called Sonny Moore and over the years I listened to his stuff. I wasn't talking to him, but I was keeping tabs on him.”
