Deadmau5, Skrillex, David Guetta & More Prepare For Creamfields 2012

With Easter and well and truly behind us, and May only round the corner, the ‘summer’ UK festival season will begin its titillating build up.

Amongst the festival season, Global Gathering and Creamfields are the UK’s premier dance festivals and the pair are set to go head-to-head again this year.

Over the last decade, both have battled on all fronts for exclusivity over their disc jockeys and both see themselves as international franchises taking their special blends of electronic music to the world.

Creamfields only recently became a weekend camping festival in 2008, whilst Global Gathering has been celebrating its festivities since 2001. However, since 2008, Cream, the famous brand behind Creamfields, have excelled and seemingly outdone Global Gathering with its superlative line-ups.

This year, over August Bank Holiday weekend, Cheshire will see the likes of Canadian electronic pioneer Deadmau5 bring his unique amalgamated music to Creamfields, headlining the North Stage on Sunday night. Expect fireworks and mouse headgear in vast numbers!

Joining the Canadian will be The Chemical Brothers, who will be returning to the festival after last year’s headline live performance with a DJ set on Saturday night. The London duo will be sure to provide some block rockin' beats as they were announced as the late special guest artists on the Annie Mac stage.

John Digweed, Eric Prydz and Avicii will all be featuring on the Saturday night, and we still haven’t even mentioned the world’s recently voted number one DJ headlining the North Stage on Saturday – The Frenchman who seems to be involved in everything right now, David Guetta.

The Swedish House Mafia has been the pinnacle of recent years at Creamfields, and is partly the reason why the festival has blown up in the past few years with their 2010 performance being crowned Radio 1 essential mix of the year. However, this year, the trio are returning separately, playing solo sets as they all prepare for their monster 65,000+ gig at the Milton Keynes Bowl in July. Sebastian Ingrosso will be warming the crowd for Avicii, whilst Steve Angello headlines the Size Matters Stage, following a certain Radio 1 legend – Pete Tong.

Axwell, the third and final part of the triangle that makes up Swedish House Mafia, will be the penultimate act on Sunday’s South Stage, before the veteran and legend that is Tiesto terminates the stage.

Saturday night’s Cream tent will be showcased by the empathetic, highly synthesized music of Above and Beyond. If hand raising emotional serotonin induced moments is your thing, then this maybe the tent to indulge in. Judge Jules is also performing early in the day on this stage, which could prove to be his last ever Creamfields performance as the vintage disc jockey is putting his vinyl away forever this year (although I will have to see it to believe it).

Through the weekend, there will also be performances from Ellie Goulding’s new boyfriend Skrillex, Paul van Dky, Ferry Corsten, Calvin Harris and a DJ set by Groove Armada.

Last year was an incredible year at Creamfields, however, sadly, the weather put a pessimistic view on the whole weekend and the festival became more like a mud bath than a summery camping weekend away in a field.

The organisers have gone all out for this year’s line-up, signing some of the biggest names in the industry; let’s just hope the weather reciprocates their passion.

There is a wide variety of tickets on sale for Creamfields 2012, ranging from hospitality VIP, camping, non-camping and day tickets.
