American rockers Alabama Shakes have given their opinion on new bands and their song-writing techniques, and has told them to try and be 'sincere' rather than simply 'original'.
The four-piece, who are relatively new to the scene themselves, have criticised some new band's attitudes of trying to make the next best sound, rather than simply writing music to the best of their ability.
Speaking to NME, singer Brittany Howard said: “A lot of people are like, 'I want to be different, I want to be original, I want to be an electronic band that mixes this and this', instead of just writing songs together as people and being sincere about it.”
She went on to talk about the band and it's sudden rise to success, saying: “I don't really know what's going on. I don't know if it has sunk in yet. My greatest pride is to have the album out. It's completely remarkable because this all started in an extra bedroom in my house.”
You can catch the band on their up and coming UK dates throughout the summer. If you need tickets, check the dates and details below.
