Joe Perry, guitarist of American rockers Aerosmith, has told fans that the band’s new album is nearing completion – saying that it’s ‘really close’.
Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone, Perry has updated the band’s scores of fans on what will be their fifteenth studio album, and revealed that the they’ve entered the mixing and mastering stage of the process – meaning it won’t be long before a release date gets set.
“It's really close,” Perry told the site. “We've started to mix. We've mixed a couple of the songs already, but I guess this week we're really kind of rolling into mix mode. We have a couple of tracks left to finish up, just to put some overdubs on, but we're kind of going from the final, final recording tracks to mixing this week.”
He continued: “The record's gonna sound modern and hi-fi. We're not sitting around going, ‘We're gonna do Night in the Ruts again or Rocks again’. We want to make a modern sounding record, but the main thing is the energy that the early records had.”
This comes after Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler told Rolling Stone that the album was one of their ‘best ever’.
Aerosmith will be touring the US through the summer, and may bring the tour over to the UK later in the year. If you're in the US, check the link below to get yourself tickets to one of their shows – and stay with Stereoboard for future Aerosmith updates.
