The 57th annual Ivor Novello awards have taken place today, and saw superstar singer Adele and ginger guitarist Ed Sheeran picking up awards among others.
The ceremony took place in Grosvenor House earlier today and saw Sheeran pick up the award for 'Best Song Musically and Lyrically' for his track 'The A-Team', whilst Adele added to her incredibly vast and unprecedented trophy cabinet after picking up the 'PRS for Music Most Performed Work' award for her single 'Rolling in the Deep'. She also picked up the prestigious 'Songwriter of the Year' award, which was handed to her by none other than Annie Lennox.
Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow and the rest of Take That scooped the 'PRS For Music Outstanding Contribution to British Music' award, which was handed to them by Chris Moyles, with Barlow telling the crowd: “There's nothing like winning an Ivor as a songwriter... we love it.”
Other winners included newcomer Lana Del Rey, who received the 'Best Contemporary Song', and PJ Harvey, who managed to pip Adele to the 'Album Award'. Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits's career was recognised at the show, with the star receiving both the 'Lifetime Achievement' and the 'The Ivors Inspiration Award'. Spandau Ballet picked up the 'Outstanding Song Collection' award, with Gary Kemp describing the win as 'the greatest honour of my career'.
