Supersonic Add Further Acts To Tenth Anniversary Line-Up

There are still a little over four months to go until this year’s Supersonic Festival kicks off in Birmingham but that hasn’t stopped organisers Capsule announcing another clutch of extraordinary names to this year’s line-up.

Perhaps the most notable name on the list of new faces is ex-Swans avant-garde legend Jarboe, who will be performing an unmissable solo set. Joining her will be the likes of experimentalists Kevin Drumm, Thomas Ankersmit and Merzbow. Room on the bill has even been found for Birmingham’s own dance-floor heroes PCM. The fact that alongside them on the line-up will be Italian psych metallers Ufomammut just goes to show the unique eclecticism that Supersonic will be bringing to the UK festival scene for the tenth year running.

Of course Supersonic is also willing to showcase the best in upcoming British talent and so the addition of bands such as Hey Colossus and Hookworms should come as no surprise. As Supersonic has always strived to emphasise the links between music, art, performance and film it should also come as no surprise to see the addition of SWLLWS to the 2012 festival. Performing under this name, Sian McFarlane will try to recapture the sense of a Victorian séance through the means of found sounds and super 8 footage - hers will certainly be one unique Supersonic performance not to be missed this year.

Alongside these bands are also more newly announced acts in the form of Hype Williams, Clifford Torus, Doomsday Student, Drunk in Hell, KK Null, Ruins Alone, My Disco, Richard Dawson, Sian Westerhaus and Warm Digits. With all the announced acts promising to put on very special performances, it seems that Supersonic’s tenth year could well be its best to date - and with its track record of providing the very best in modern inventive music, that is saying quite something. 2012 will once again see Supersonic getting the best out of acts old and new whilst keeping firmly ahead of the curve.

More information about the event, held at Birmingham’s The Custard Factory from 19th-21st October, can be found at www.supersonicfestival.com and you can listen to the Supersonicn2012 mixtape below.
