Star producer Benga has revealed that he no longer wants to be part of the dubstep scene - even though he is one of the founding fathers of the genre.
Benga helped pioneer dubstep when it first started in London back in 2006 alongside Skream and others, but is now ready to leave the 140bpm bass-business behind to produce different styles of dance music. It comes after Benga’s recent comments which saw him claiming that dubstep ‘could be bigger than house’, and that dubstep was the ‘music of this generation’.
“I've been seen to say that dubstep is the music of our generation, but that's now changed,” Benga told NME. “I believe now that certain artists are the future, I don't want to be any part of dubstep anymore.”
