Superstar singer Katy Perry has claimed that she’d never write an entire album about heartbreak - in what some may see as a dig at chart phenomenon Adele.
Perry recently split from husband Russell Brand because, Perry believes, they didn’t spend enough time together. But, although heartbroken, Perry has stated that she won’t be using the divorce as a means of inspiration, and won’t be recording an album about her hurt - something which Adele’s world-beating LP ‘21’ is based on.
“I'd never devote a whole record to heartbreak,” Perry told tabloid paper The Sun. “I'm happy, I'm in a good place, I'm looking forward to my future.”
She continued on to talk explicitly about her failed relationship with Brand, saying: “If I could edit it any other way I would, but that is exactly the way it was. I always had plans to make this record and usually with a record, you tour a record. Touring is always important to me. It's like a big IOU to my fans, because I know they are the reason I exist.”
She added finally: “Then last year, in my relationship, it's like I didn't want to change. I wanted to stay as a performer who has so much love for my fans, and I don't want to ever think I would have to choose between them.”
