Far from being the classic summer song about sunny days and bikini-clad girls, 'Wet Summer' continues the moody melancholia characteristic of the band’s earlier releases, including their contribution to the Sound Of Copenhagen/Sony compilation, 'Smoke And Mirrors' as well as their 2011 EP 'The Priest', which received praise from critics and music lovers alike.
Shanghai are Niels Brandt and Nicolai Kornerup: talented composers, musicians and producers - producing the majority of their tracks themselves. Their music is largely inspired by the darker moodier side of music, arts and literature; from the new wave of the 1980’s to the dark classicism of Ravel and Franz Kafka.
Indeed, 'Wet Summer' holds clear references to renowned eighties music icons such as The Mission, The Jesus & Mary Chain and Pink Floyd. The band are currently working on their first full length album which is expected to come out in the beginning of 2013.
'Wet Summer' was produced by Alessandro Cortini, famous for his work with Ladytron and Nine Inch Nails. The single was released on July 2nd 2012 on iTunes, Spotify and 7 Digital platforms.
