Although some rock and metal shows can get a little rowdy, what with an audience mostly comprised of rather large, rather drunk motorbikers, you wouldn’t expect a gig featuring comedy rock duo Tenacious D to get very violent. But that’s exactly what happened at one of their shows in Las Vegas’ House of Blues on Saturday night - after an audience member was stabbed following a fight in the crowd.
The concert, held in Mandalay Bay, was ended prematurely after a brawl between fans ended with a fan being in the leg. Las Vegas police managed to arrest one man in connection with the attack, while the injured fan was treated at a nearby hospital - he’s expected to make a full recovery. It’s unsure whether fans’ wallets will make a full recovery, though, as there may not be refunds available - despite Tenacious D’s set being interrupted and comedy-glam rock Steel Panther not even making it onstage.
Fans have been voicing their opinion on the concert online, with one saying: “I had been waiting months to rock out to the D and I’m sure there are more fans then just me that feel cheated by House of Blues’ lack of security.” Another wrote angrily: “I hereby propose all in attendance put together a petition to have the screw-off that got the concert cut short reimburse half of the ticket money, since you were only able to see half the D show.”
One attendee wasn’t so livid, and sympathised: “People need to stop complaining about the concert being cut half an hour short due to a stabbing last night. It still fucking ruled, and was worth every penny, so shut your mouth.”
