Oxford-based alternative rock quartet A Silent Film have announced that they’ll release their brand new EP ‘This Stage is Your Life’ on August 6th - and they’ve unveiled a brand new music video for its lead title track.

Conceived in a makeshift recording studio in Cave Creek, Arizona, the EP features a soaring piano version of ‘Danny Dakota and the Wishing Well’, which is set to appear on the new album ‘Sand & Snow’, which hits shelves early next year.

In 2010, while on an eye-opening American tour, the band decided to relocate to Phoenix, Arizona. ‘We felt like we always had a kinship with America,’ vocalist/pianist Robert Stevenson says of the creative benefit of the move. “Previously, I had been inspired by American writers, musicians, and filmmakers, but written everything in Oxford. Suddenly, we were flung into the eye of a cultural hurricane, travelling from state to state day after day - you couldn't help but be inspired by this wealth of new experiences. We decided we had to stay here to capture this album.”

Mixing duties fell to Alan Moulder - best known for his work with The Killers, Death Cab For Cutie, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Foo Fighters – who finished the self produced sessions in London along with Catherine Marks (PJ Harvey, The Pains of Being Pure of Heart & Foals).

A Silent Film consists of Robert Stevenson on vocals/pianos, Karl Bareham on guitar, Ali Hussain on bass, and Spencer Walker behind the drumkit. Forming in 2005, they’ve garnered favorable comparisons to Coldplay, The Killers, and Snow Patrol and have recently supported The Temper Trap, Smashing Pumpkins and Athlete.
